We provide nursing care in challenging times. Our patients, like us, are facing accumulative stressors and this can bring additional issues to a persons clinical picture. Some of our patients have come to us on the background of current or past trauma which may result in non helpful coping mechanisms such as the rise in alcohol or substance use. With this in mind, how can we as a profession support our patients to navigate the health care system safely and to optimise their rehabilitation potential? In the following webinar, we will explore the framework of trauma informed practice and how understanding an individuals experience may further assist us in providing nursing care in a rehabilitation setting.

Meet our Presenter:
Sal Hosking
Sal Hosking is an experienced mental health nurse consultant who has over 25 years of clinical mental health nursing experience. She has previously specialised in areas including general acute adult psychiatry, rehabilitation settings, youth early psychosis and primary mental health teams focusing on supporting people with high prevalence disorders. Sal has worked in private practice, public mental health services, nongovernment agencies and general health settings.
She currently holds the position of Mental Health and Wellbeing Coordinator for Victorian Spinal Cord Service- Community Program, Austin health.
